VerifyTT Launches to Advance Digital Transformation and Strengthen Trinidad and Tobago’s Digital Public Infrastructure
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has taken another significant step in its national digital transformation agenda with the official launch of VerifyTT, a secure national digital verification platform developed by the National Information and Communication Technology Company Limited (iGovTT), a state agency under the Ministry of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence.
More than a credential verification platform, VerifyTT represents an important component of Trinidad and Tobago’s emerging Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), the foundational systems that enable secure, trusted, and efficient digital interactions across society.
Just as roads move people and goods, and electricity powers homes and businesses, Digital Public Infrastructure powers trust in the digital world. VerifyTT has been designed to serve as part of that national trust layer, enabling institutions, employers, and citizens to interact with greater confidence, security, and efficiency in an increasingly digital society.
The platform’s first sectoral implementation focuses on transforming how academic and professional credentials are issued, shared, and verified across Trinidad and Tobago. It enables individuals to securely access and share authenticated credential data while allowing authorised institutions and organisations to verify credentials in real time.
As the national trust infrastructure evolves, VerifyTT is designed to support additional sectors and use cases, enabling the secure exchange and verification of trusted digital information across government, business, and society. Beyond its first sectoral implementation in tertiary education, other priority use cases already underway include the Registrar General’s Department for civil registry records and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) for Certificates of Character. These initiatives form part of an extensive pipeline of future implementations that will further strengthen transparency, efficiency, and integrity in public and private sector services and transactions.
The initiative aligns closely with the government’s broader vision for a modern, technology-enabled public service and digital economy, where trusted digital systems improve citizen experiences, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen institutional accountability.
VerifyTT also reflects Trinidad and Tobago’s growing commitment to building modern digital systems that support national development and global competitiveness. By establishing trusted digital infrastructure, the country is laying the groundwork for more seamless digital services, improved interoperability across sectors, and stronger public trust in online transactions and digital governance.
Speaking at the launch of VerifyTT in April 2026, Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, stated:
“This is a solution that will put citizens at the heart and at the centre of technological evolution. VerifyTT reduces the transaction costs of doing things, reduces the need for long queues, and reduces the need for duplication of efforts across citizens.”
As Trinidad and Tobago continues to modernise its public services and digital economy, VerifyTT represents a major step toward building a more connected and empowered nation.
VerifyTT is now live and available to organisations nationwide, marking another important advancement in Trinidad and Tobago’s journey toward a secure, trusted, and inclusive digital future.
